WHY SAN JOSE SHARKS ARE A GOOD BET TO WIn

The Sharks are now a perfect 3-0 in Game 1 in these playoffs, but those early wins have not translated into smooth sailing for them, as they have seen both series this year go to 7 games. Like the Blues, San Jose has also been on the brink of elimination, the most dramatic of which was coming from 3-0 down versus Vegas to win and take Game 7 in an OT thriller.
Despite being routinely pushed to the limit, the Sharks are now 6-1 SU in their last 7 games in their own building, although they are just 20-30 ATS in all games played on home ice this season.

WHY BET ON ST LOUIs BLUES?

Sharks will look to reach the Western Conference Finals for the second time in the last four years with a victory in Game 7. In Game 6, the Sharks got a pair of goals from defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic and another from fellow defenseman Brent Burns in the loss. Still, Sharks coach Peter DeBoer wasn’t overly critical of his team’s effort after Game 6.

“Two evenly matched teams,” DeBoer said. “What did they do tonight that we didn’t do? They found a way to get an extra goal.”

In addition to Game 7 being on their home ice, San Jose will also get a big boost from the likely return of team captain Joe Pavelski who hasn’t suited up since suffering an unrevealed injury when his head hit the ice after being cross-checked in Game 7 against Vegas. Pavelski, who led the Sharks with 38 goals in the regular season, skated with the team Monday for the first time since the injury.

“I’m not hiding anything,” DeBoer told NHL.com before the Sharks left Denver for San Jose on Tuesday. “He’s day-to-day. He’s getting better every day. We’re going to make a decision on game day whether he’s going to be available or not. I don’t have anything more for you. There’s nothing hidden. There’s no secret information here.”

Pavelski said prior to Game 6 that he was close to returning.
“Yeah, it’s a possibility, I think, and we’ll see,” Pavelski said. “But it still really is day-to-day, I think, and go from there. I wish we had a set-in-stone answer. ‘Go here, do this and be ready.’ We’re just kind of taking everything into play.”

San Jose has scored 17 goals in this series for an average of 2.8 goals per game. The Sharks have allowed three or less goals in six of their last nine games.

St. Louis heads into this matchup on a mini-roll. The Blues beat Dallas twice in a row to stamp their ticket to the conference finals. In Game 6, St. Louis beat the Stars 4-1 in Dallas. They then beat the Stars 2-1 in overtime in Game 7.San Jose isn’t unbeatable at home. St. Louis is playing well enough to give the Sharks all they can handle up until the end of the third period. They have a chance to win this match on Saturday.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Blues vs Sharks

The overwhelming margin of victory for the Sharks in Game 1, as well as their recent dominance of the Blues on home ice, suggests that they might be a good bet again here. While I think they go up 2-0 in the series, I think the bet here is the Blues to cover.
Score: St. Louis Blues 2 – San Jose Sharks 3
